Hey everyone! Recently, I was asked to write some music for a promotional video. I obliged, and ended up writing 9 tracks for them to use. Although it's not my usual style, I thought some people may find it of interest. So, from today, anyone can download the tracks for free. "Adrenaline" is a 30 minute suite, split into 9 sections, of trancey, atmospheric music. Best of all, you can download it for FREE by clicking
THIS LINK The zip file contains high quality mp3 files, all correctly tagged, plus a pdf file of the sleeve artwork for you to print out. It's best listened to after being burned to CD, as some tracks fade in and out of each other! Enjoy and feel free to leave a comment on this blog!

PS: Graham and I have started work on some new Lucid Dream songs, and have about 4 or 5 songs pretty much written already. More news on that to follow as and when stuff happens!

Hey Everyone!
The new CD, Surface Tension, is finally finished and ready for your delectation. There will be a physical CD version available for anyone so inclined to throw a few coppers our way, but until I get it added to the Shop section of our site, and in an effort to get as many people to listen to it as possible, I'm also putting it up as a FREE DOWNLOAD!
Simply CLICK HERE to get your very own download of our new CD!
The CD is in zipped format. Just use Winzip or WinRar to open the file to get at the Lucid loveliness inside. As well as all 15, (yes, 15!) tracks encoded in excellent quality 256k mp3 format, the zip file also contains a PDF document of all the lyrics, another pdf file of the sleeve, so you can print out and make your own cover, plus all the mp3's have the album art embedded too, for all you iPod nerds (like me!)
This CD has been a labour of love, and a lot of really hard work has been put into it. Being an insomniac does have it's advantages at times, as many nights have been spent mixing this into the wee small hours. We hope you'll enjoy it, and we'd love it if you'd come back to this blog and leave us a comment. Please also fire off the download link to your friends, family, enemies and casual acquaintances, and educate them in all things Lucid.
Right, I'm not going near a guitar, keyboard, drum machine or mixer for a few months...
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

General StuffPosted by Darren Fri, February 26, 2010 15:15:57The CD is literally DAYS away. So confident am I in that, that I am now publishing
the final track listing, and a brief description of each song for you, so here goes...
1. Who’s there..?
The instrumental leader into the CD proper. Atmosphere builds until...
2. Above You
The album REALLY starts here. A heavy rocker in the Evanesence / Within Temptation
mould.
3. Homebound
A modern take on one of our old songs that we thought deserved better.
4. The Fool
Later on in the album, there’ll be a track that makes you go, “I’ve heard that guitar
somewhere before...”
5. Over My Head
A dainty little number, with subtly dark overtones...
6. Signs
Pure, unadulterated pop. Get in!
7. Sometimes
Lyrics provided by Eric Domander, of Canadian band Last Placid Days of Plenty
8. What’s Your Name?
Another atmosphere builder. This time, leading nicely into...
9. Tell Me How To Feel
A musical interpretation of repeatedly smashing your head against a brick wall.
10. Drive It Like You Stole It
Put your foot down!
11. The Release
No point in wasting time or effort on the small things...
12. Whatever
Another oldie given a lick of paint and brought up to date.
13. Invincible
My own interpretation of a Muse classic. An homage to a great song.
14. Fool For A Lifetime, King For A Day
A classic Lucid Dream album closer, in a similar vein the asThe Promise, from the
last CD. Builds in intensity with each chorus.
BONUS TRACK
15. A Call To Arms (The Spazzi Dazzi Mix)
A bit of a fun note to end the album on.
We’re REALLY pleased with this CD, and I’m just doing some final tweaks production-wise.
The CD’s are printed up, the inserts are ready for the jewel cases, and with a bit
of luck, we should have it ready within the next 10 days. Stay tuned!

General StuffPosted by Darren Wed, February 03, 2010 12:17:09HAPPY NEW YEAR!
OK, so that’s a little late, but we’ve been flat out over the last
few months finishing the CD. We thought we’d done just before Xmas, but we had another
creative run, and rather than wait another 18 months for the NEXT CD, we thought
these new songs were strong enough to warrant inclusion on the current CD. There’s
some great music on the new album, even if we do say so ourselves, and we can’t wait
to have it out there. We just have a few minor patches to do to a couple of songs,
but we can finally announce that the album will be called.... (drum roll please)
SURFACE TENSION. We hope to have it released by mid March at the latest, and we
hope you’ll agree it has been worth waiting for. 15, yes, 15(!) tracks, including
modern updates of a few of our earlier songs that we thought could do with the benefit
of the knowledge and skills we have now. There’s 2010 updates of Homebound and Whatever,
and a funky remix of A Call To Arms. But it’s the new songs we’re most exited about.
We think this is the most “finished” sounding CD we’ve yet done, and have kicked
the ass of every song until we were completely happy with it. “Good enough” was not
good enough this time! OK, back to the grindstone. Keep checking
www.lucid-dream.co.uk for updates! Later!

General StuffPosted by Celeste Wed, December 10, 2008 15:46:20Oh yes, the album artwork is stunning too!!!
General StuffPosted by Celeste Wed, December 10, 2008 15:41:49Gentlemen, we salute you!
The album is great, and it's clear that a lot of hard work and tears went into achieving the final product.
Thank you for the 'Idiot' track - it cracked me up!! That's just my interpretation... Really clever :-)
Other favourites include T-Shirt, Skipunky, Surface and of course Trading Thoughts.
More comments will surely follow, as soon as I have time.
Take care!

General StuffPosted by Eric Wed, December 10, 2008 15:30:57Hey Darren and Graham !
Just like Oliver Hardy used to say " Boy, you've really done it this time !!!"
Seriously, just got my copy here in Canada, and WOW, I have to say this is a great album fellas ! Worth every penny. A big leap forward for Lucid Dream ! The musicianship, layering, mixing, and of course songwriting is really quite exceptional !
This ones gonna spend a lot of time in my stereo ! Thanks in advance for all the enjoyment this work is going to bring my ears !
Congratulations !
Eric Domander
General StuffPosted by Darren Wed, December 10, 2008 14:02:21OK, now the bulsh*t stops. The CD IS ready, and anyone who feels so inclined to do so can head on over to our
SHOP section of the site, and purchase a copy. Or, you can download it if you want. (It's cheaper!) Feel free to leave any comments here in the blog, or just say hi!
General StuffPosted by Darren Fri, November 14, 2008 17:24:12OK, I know I said in April that we thought we'd have the CD ready for June. So, that was a complete and utter lie. Sorry. But a lot of stuff happened that delayed things, and, well, you don't want to know. All we can say now is that the CD is literally days (not weeks, months or years) away. I did one master yesterday, and thought it was finished, until I discovered a massive balls-up on one of the tracks that must have happened during mix-down. Easily resolved but god knows how it happened. Tune in Monday when hopefully I'll be able to announce that it's ready!
On another note, it was decided at the last minute to drop the track "Untwist." Not becuase we don't like it. It just doesn't seem to fit well on the CD. We'll work on it and have it sorted for the next one. If this one doesn't drive us to drug and hard drugs first, LOL!
